Free Menu QR Code Generator
for Restaurants
Paste a public menu URL, choose a style and download SVG or PNG. QR generation runs in your browser and needs no account. Check that the destination opens for guests before printing.
Tip: keep the destination URL available. Menu edits can use the same printed QR while that address still works.
Sets the PNG export dimensions. The preview fits your screen; SVG can scale for print.

How to Create a QR Code for Your Restaurant Menu
Create the QR, then test the actual file and printed proof
-
Paste your menu URL
Copy the complete https:// address of your public menu. Open it in a signed-out browser first and confirm that it shows the intended menu.
-
Pick colors and style
Keep dark modules on a light background. Check that decorative changes do not reduce contrast or obscure the square position markers.
-
Set error correction level
M is the tool's default. Higher levels add recovery data but can make the pattern denser. Recovery percentages refer to codewords, not an area you can safely cover with a logo.DENSO WAVE error-correction guidance.
-
Download SVG or PNG
Use SVG when your print workflow accepts vector artwork, or PNG at enough pixels for the intended size. Inspect the exported file, not only the preview.
-
Test before printing
Decode the exported QR, open the destination and scan an actual printed proof on the phones, material and lighting you expect guests to use. Keep a readable menu URL or paper alternative available.
Why Restaurants Use a Menu QR Code
A QR gives guests a way to open a menu link. The menu host controls editing and publication; the QR generator creates the image that points there.
Reuse the printed QR
Save menu changes at the same working URL, then check the guest view. The QR pattern can stay the same while that address remains available.
Plan your printing costs
Menu edits at the same URL can avoid reprinting the QR. Signs, replacement prints and paper alternatives can still cost money.
Offer a phone access option
Guests with a compatible scanner and internet connection can open the menu on their own phone. Keep another way to read it.
Check scanner compatibility
Many phones can scan from their camera app. Test the devices your guests use instead of assuming every camera will work.
Check availability after saving
Update an item's availability in the menu editor, save it and reload the public menu to confirm the change.
Readable in your menu's language
Write the menu in the language you serve in. For two languages, put both in each item or create separate menus on Pro. Guests can zoom the text in their browser. There is no built-in language switcher.
What this free tool does
This tool creates static QR images from the text or URL you enter. SVG and PNG downloads are available without an account or an added watermark.
Browser-based QR generation
The generator passes your input to the QR library in your browser. That generation code does not upload the input to Menujo. This describes QR creation, not a claim that the website has no analytics or network requests.
Free SVG and PNG downloads
The standalone generator needs no account and adds no watermark. A hosted Menujo menu is a separate product with Free and paid plans.
Print-Ready Output
SVG export scales without pixelation, so you can print at the size of a sticker, table tent, or storefront window without quality loss. PNG fallback for digital displays.
Static vs Dynamic QR Codes
This tool generates static QR codes with a fixed destination. You can edit a web menu or replace a PDF at the same available URL without changing the printed code. If the address changes, keep the old URL working through a redirect you control or print a replacement. Menujo links depend on the menu slug, publication state and continued service access; they do not automatically follow a move to another provider.

QR Code Sizing for Restaurant Materials
Start with the placement examples below, then test your exact QR artwork at its intended size and distance. These are planning examples, not validated minimum sizes. Payload length, module size, print quality, glare, camera and lighting all affect scanning. DENSO WAVE specifies a blank quiet zone at least four modules wide around a standard QR Code.
| Surface | Example scanning distance | Initial width to try | Larger proof size to compare |
|---|---|---|---|
| Table tent | 25-40 cm | 2.5 cm | 3-4 cm |
| Receipt | 25 cm | 2.5 cm | 3 cm |
| Counter card | 40-60 cm | 4 cm | 5-6 cm |
| Storefront window decal | 1-2 m | 10-20 cm | 15-25 cm |
| Takeout bag | 30 cm | 3 cm | 4-5 cm |
| Wall poster (queue area) | 2-3 m | 20-30 cm | 30-40 cm |

Frequently Asked Questions
Answers to the most common QR generator questions.
What is a QR code menu and how does it work?
A QR code menu is a printed or on-screen QR code that opens your restaurant's menu in the customer's phone browser when they scan it with their camera. Guests scan the code on a table, window or receipt to open the destination. Loading depends on the page and connection. Menu edits can appear through the same QR while the encoded address stays available.
Do customers need to download an app to scan the menu QR code?
Many phones can open QR links through their camera app. Compatibility depends on the device and settings. Guests also need internet access to load an online menu. Offer the menu URL or a printed menu when scanning is inconvenient.
How do I create a QR code for my restaurant menu?
Paste the complete public menu URL into the field above. Choose dark modules on a light background, download SVG or PNG, and test the exported file and a printed proof. If you need a menu URL first, create and publish a Menujo menu and use its built-in QR.
Is this QR code generator really free?
The standalone generator offers SVG and PNG downloads without an account or an added watermark. It creates a static QR that encodes the supplied text or URL. Hosting and editing a Menujo menu is a separate workflow with Free and paid plans.
Static QR code vs dynamic QR code: which one is this?
This generator creates static QR codes, which encode a fixed destination. Editing a menu or replacing a PDF at that same URL does not change the code. If the address changes, keep the old address working through a redirect you control or print a new code. A Menujo link depends on its slug, publication state and continued service access. It does not automatically follow a move to another platform.
What is the best size for a printed restaurant QR code?
There is no universal minimum size that guarantees scanning. Use the placement table as a starting point, preserve the four-module quiet zone, and test the exact printed design at the intended distance and lighting. Increase the size or simplify the design if the proof does not scan reliably.
What error correction level should I pick?
M is the default. L, M, Q and H recover approximately 7%, 15%, 25% and 30% of codewords under the standard's error-correction model. Those percentages are not a safe logo size or a guarantee about damaged image area. Higher levels can create a denser symbol, so test the final exported and printed QR.
Can I add my logo inside the QR code?
This standalone tool does not have a logo-upload control. For an existing Menujo menu, start with its native menu QR. If you need separate QR design or managed-link features, review QRLynx, our sister product, and test the final output. A logo can reduce readability; no error-correction setting guarantees that an overlaid design will scan.
Why does the QR code stop working after I change my menu URL?
The printed code still encodes the original address. Restore that destination or maintain a redirect you control to the new page. If you cannot control the old address, print a replacement code. A dynamic QR service adds a managed redirect, but its continuity also depends on the provider and account terms.
Does this generator track or save my URLs?
The QR generation and download code runs in your browser and does not upload its input to Menujo. Website analytics and consent controls are separate from that generation workflow. See the privacy policy for the site's data practices.
Is SVG or PNG better for printing a QR code?
SVG stays sharp when scaled in a print workflow that supports it. PNG can also work when its pixel dimensions suit the intended print size. Avoid enlarging a low-resolution PNG and always test the final printed proof.
Can I use this QR code commercially?
You can use this tool's generated QR images on your restaurant materials. Keep permission for any logos, artwork and destination content you use. DENSO WAVE publishes the QR specifications and explains its patent position for standardized QR Codes in its standards guidance.
Why does my QR code look slightly different each time I regenerate?
A change to the input, dimensions, error-correction level or styling can change the visible pattern. Decode the exported image to verify its content. If an unchanged setup produces an unexpected result, reload the tool and test again before printing.
What should the URL look like for a restaurant menu QR?
Use the complete https:// address that opens the menu directly and works without signing in. Keep it stable and avoid unnecessary redirects. Retain deliberate source tags supplied by your menu's sharing tools when you want that attribution, then test the exact URL before generating the QR.
