Dynamic QR code
A QR code that encodes a redirect URL controlled by the operator, allowing the destination to be changed without reprinting the code. The opposite of a static QR code, which has the URL hard-coded into the printed pattern.
Why this matters for restaurants: The question a dynamic QR answers is "can I change where this printed code points?" It does not decide whether your menu can change. What decides that is what the code points at. A QR that encodes a PDF file or an image has to be reprinted every time the menu changes. A QR that encodes a permanent hosted menu page, static or dynamic, keeps working when you change a price, swap an item, or fix a typo, because the page behind the URL updates and the URL does not.
So a static QR pointing at a permanent menu URL (this is how a Menujo menu code works) already gives you edits without reprinting. A dynamic QR adds a redirect layer on top, which is worth paying for when the destination itself may move: a new domain, a seasonal landing page, a campaign link you retarget. Watch out for "free" dynamic QR generators that expire the redirect after 14 to 30 days, which silently kills every printed code.
